Do I have to audition to join?

Our simple audition process requires you to learn 16 bars of one of our repertoire songs and sing them with the full support from your own section leader, (Baritone, Bass, Leads or Tenors).

When you can do this, full membership will be offered. This ensures that we maintain a good quality of voices and allows the opportunity for you to attend for a short while and decide whether it is something that you will enjoy and commit to.

How often do you rehearse?

Weekly, on a Tuesday evening from 7:30 – 10pm.

Where are rehearsals?

We meet every Tuesday at Cleadon Academy, Boldon Lane, Cleadon, SR6 7RP – Click here for directions

How often should I attend?

Consistent attendance enhances the rehearsal experience and fosters a sense of achievement.

Does it cost anything?

We are a non-profit organisation and registered charity and members of the choir pay a minimal monthly fee which covers rehearsal space, music and teaching aids, insurances and some performance outfits.

Do you keep the money from ticket sales?

The vast majority of our concerts are at the invitation of various venues where audiences buy tickets or make a donation, and any funds raised go to the venue or charity organising the event.  The choir has raised many thousands of pounds from the dozen or so concerts performed every year.

Where do you perform?

All over the region, for example The National Centre for the Written Word in South Shields, Beamish Museum, 17nineteen arts hub in Sunderland and some of the most fabulous churches with wonderful acoustics which are ideal for our kind of music.  So many churches are looking for inclusive ways to help raise funds for restoration projects or to help local communities and charities, so we are delighted to sing for them.

What does it take to join?

Passion for music, singing, commitment, and a positive attitude!

Is it true that singing is good for me?

It is! According to research singing boosts physical and mental health, promoting a sense of belonging. It’s a fantastic hobby.
